Combining α-Al2O3 Packing Material and a ZnO Nanocatalyst in an Ozonized Bubble Column Reactor to Increase the Phenol Degradation from Wastewater

The ozonation reaction in a bubble column reactor (BCR) has been widely used the removal of phenol from wastewater, but efficiency this type is limited because low ozone solubility and reactivity system. In present study, degradation BCR was enhanced by using α-Al2O3 as packing material ZnO nanocatalyst. diameter height were 8 cm 180 cm, respectively. gas distributor designed to include 52 holes 0.5 mm diameter. Also, holdup, pressure drop, size measured function superficial velocity (i.e., 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 cm/s). evaluation hydrodynamic parameters provided deeper understanding process through which select optimal operating reactor. It found that best 2.5 cm/s. A complete (100%) achieved for concentrations 15, 20, 25 ppm at times 80, 90, 100 min, respectively; nanocatalyst BCR. Additionally, kinetics study conducted describe first-order assumption clearly describes with an R2 = 0.991. Finally, applied treatment method can be efficiently remove wastewater cost, small consumption energy simple operation.
